Carrier Certification/Technical Acceptance Specialist November 2013 to Present

Wistron is a smartphone ODM (part of Blackberry previously). It designs and manufactures Android and Windows based smartphones. My primary focus is to drive the carrier certification/technical acceptance processes such as AT&T 10776, Verizon, 3GPP PTCRB/GCF for LTE smartphones.

·   Managed and Successfully completed 3 Android LTE smartphones though pre-CAT and formal AVL Lab AT&T certification and technical acceptance testing. 

·   Created and maintained the AT&T10776 test plans for smart phone devices; executed these plans using Anite, Spirent and R&S testing systems. Some of the devices have multiple SKUs for NA, EU and rest of world Android and Windows versions. 

·   Created and executed the 3GPP, PTCRB and GCF test plans.

·   Managed and maintained AT&T 13289 and other formal certification document specifications for a number of LTE devices.

·   Interfaced and maintained technical relationship with external Lab (Aircom, InterTek, At4Wireless) and test system vendors: Anite, Spirent, R&S.

·   Worked with other development teams and external Labs to debug modem and OS iusses and tracked and resolved software defects.

Managed a team of system engineers to design and test the Vehicle Control Platform (VCP), a cellular device of the OnStar system that provides wireless (2G/3G/LTE/VoLTE) connections for the vehicle; the VCP also provides WiFi and Bluetooth for in-vehicle devices, interfaces with infotainment systems. 

·   Defined VCP feature requirements and roadmap. Created and reviewed design and architecture specifications, and interface specifications. 

·   Managed relationship with LG Electronics (software vendor) to develop and test software features such as LTE/VoLTE, always-on, remote flash etc. 

·   Supported AT&T carrier certification process. Worked with AT&T to conduct field tests.  

·   Worked with both AT&T, Verizon and G&D to design and test a single SIM dual carrier solution. 

·   Supported OnStar commercial launches in Mexico, China and Europe.

Managed engineering teams in US and China to conduct TD-LTE field trials with cellular operators including the world largest trial for China Mobile (300 sites in 3 cities) and others e.g. Sky in Brazil, KDDI in Japan, ClearWire in US.  Main responsibilities included:

·   LTE eNode feedback optimization to support high quality video delivery.

Networks Division 

·   Lead Architect for Seamless Mobility Project: fixed mobile convergence system supporting cellular and WiFi seamless handoffs, enterprise IP PBX functionalities. Responsible for requirements and architecture. Made many presentations on “Seamless Mobility” to corporate executives including the CEO, COO, CFO and major customers, e.g. BT, French Telecom, FedEx, UPS.

·   Bluetooth stack development and programming (C/C++) for Motorola phones (C270/C280).

·   New feature enhancement GAP/SDP/transmitting voice using ACL rather than SCO, this is to connect to multiple laptops to transit/handoff voice session to internet.
